In this role, you will manage and implement the day-to-day delivery of our marketing activities, ensuring seamless execution across channels. You will work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to plan and deliver social campaigns, to ensure maximum impact and efficiency of resources. Additionally, you’ll have line management responsibility for the Marketing and Communications Assistant, guiding and developing their skills while fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
As part of your broader responsibilities, you will take an active role within our supportive Programming Officer team, collaborating with colleagues to contribute directly to achieving our charitable mission to build science capital for all — helping us inspire and engage future generations through science and nature.
This is a fantastic time to join the Charity as we work to significantly expand our reach and impact. You will be at the forefront of promoting our exciting offerings, from family-friendly experiences to educational programs, across various channels. If you're a passionate storyteller with an eye for design, a knack for social media, and a desire to contribute to a greater cause, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
With guidance and support from the Head of Marketing and Communications, you’ll be the mastermind behind bringing our marketing strategy to life, specifically:
Social media management
- Manage the Winchester Science Centre social media channels (Facebook / Instagram / TikTok / LinkedIn) using your creativity to engage, excite and entertain. You’ll create a buzz around all things Winchester Science Centre.
- Use the agreed Marketing and Communications social media strategy to create and deliver an organic social content plan for all commercial social media channels to sell tickets, engage followers and elevate the Science Centre brand.
- Manage and deliver the process for capturing Science Centre content for social media (including, but not limited to, live demos and shows, behind the scenes content, pieces to camera with staff, rave reviews from our visitors, etc) from identifying opportunities, arranging shoots and leading on filming/photography to editing, seeking approvals and posting. Lights, camera, action – it’s all in your hands!
- Manage a small delegated proportion of the Marketing budget in order to plan and deliver the paid-for social campaigns, ensuring our strategy is on track and resources are being used in the most impactful way.
- Manage and deliver a proactive influencer programme to share the magic of the Science Centre. You’ll scout new partnerships, organise exciting visits, and watch our brand go viral!
- Dive into social media data including organic and paid-for ads, and track campaign performance to support the Head of Marketing and Communications. You’ll gather insights to fine-tune and level up our content and ads, making sure every post and ad hits the mark.
- Work hand-in-hand with the Communications Officer to ensure both commercial and charitable messages are shared seamlessly across all our social channels. Teamwork makes the dream work!
- Identify new social media opportunities, trends, emerging platforms, and fresh ideas to keep Winchester Science Centre front and centre in the digital world.
Website management
- Take the reins of the Winchester Science Centre’s website CMS, being the first point of contact for internal teams. You'll keep things running smoothly and ensure the website always reflects our awesome brand.

Whether it’s daytime visits, evening events, or school bookings, you'll make sure every page is fresh, relevant, and totally on-brand.
- Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to supercharge our SEO efforts. Help boost our website’s visibility, optimise content, and identify new opportunities to make sure we're always at the top of the search results.
- Be in charge of the smooth process for all tickets going on sale – from uploading data to our ticketing system to creating dazzling web pages that make it easy for visitors to book their next adventure.
- Collaborate with the Communications Officer in keeping the Wonderseekers website up-to-date and looking sharp. You'll ensure everything stays on-brand and aligned with our mission to engage children in science and nature.
